Job Description:
The Head of Sourcing (Garments) is responsible for leading and managing the sourcing and production activities for garment manufacturing. This role involves strategic planning, supplier relationship management, cost analysis, quality control, and team leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies and plans for garment manufacturing, ensuring alignment with the company's objectives and targets.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suitable suppliers and manufacturers for garment production. Negotiate contracts and establish agreements to ensure competitive pricing, quality standards, and timely delivery.
- Oversee and manage the sourcing process, including vendor identification, RFQs (Request for Quotations), RFIs (Request for Information), and RFPs (Request for Proposals).
- Analyze and monitor market trends, prices, and materials to optimize sourcing decisions and maintain cost efficiency in garment production.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as design, production, and quality control teams, to ensure seamless coordination throughout the sourcing and production cycle.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers, engaging in regular communication, conducting performance evaluations, and addressing any issues or concerns.
- Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure that garments meet the company's standards and customer requirements.
- Stay updated with industry regulations and compliance standards, ensuring that all sourcing and production activities adhere to ethical and legal requirements.
- Lead and manage a team of sourcing professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance their skills and performance.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the sourcing and production processes, identifying opportunities for cost savings, efficiency enhancements, and risk mitigation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business management, supply chain management, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
- Proven experience in sourcing and production management within the garment industry, ideally in a leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of garment manufacturing processes, techniques, and materials.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to analyze market trends, evaluate suppliers, and negotiate contracts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams, external suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with quality control procedures and industry compliance standards related to garment production.
- Strong leadership abilities, with the capability to lead and motivate a team.
- Proactive mindset, with the ability to identify and address potential issues or risks in the sourcing and production process.
- Proficiency in using sourcing software, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
